In addition, uterine cancer may present with symptoms consistent with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Hence, it is therefore extremely important to initially perform a dilation and curettage (D&C.) A D&C removes excessive tissue build-up within the uterine cavity and most important of all, allows a microscopic analysis of the tissue specimen to be performed to rule out the possibility of uterine cancer. Once cancer is completely ruled out, oral contraceptives with properly balanced estrogen and progesterone concentrations can be administered in order to attain an even, regulated menstrual flow. If you have menstrual symptoms that concern you, call Dr. Rainer’s office at 718-624-0604 and schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience.
